Fresh talent to enhance and develop MIPAC’s relationships

MIPAC's new business development manager Darren Hill.
20-Dec-2011

New MIPAC business development manager Darren Hill has more than 25 years’ experience in delivering electrical engineering solutions, managing innovation and commercialising technology.

Originally from the United Kingdom where he worked for Eurotherm, Clare Instruments, Schneider Electric, and Eaton/Cutler-Hammer, Darren was most recently the group manager — business development and commercialisation for renowned scientific institution, Scion, in Rotorua, New Zealand.

“One of my key achievements at Scion was negotiating a revolutionary wood fibre technology licensing deal with a global corporate based in Europe that will return more than NZ$10 million in royalties to Scion,” Darren says.

“I also lobbied government about packaging materials issues which could affect New Zealand’s ability to increase export growth. This resulted in a government campaign to inform exporters about the issues, and industry investment in packaging material research.

“In addition, I commercialised a lake water remediation technology, modified zeolite, which is being used by Environment Bay of Plenty Council to fix nutrient issues (algal blooms) at various Rotorua lakes.”

Darren is currently introducing himself to MIPAC’s valued clients and gathering information about how best to address their needs. He is also holding discussions with product and technology providers and evaluating new technologies that may enhance the solutions that MIPAC delivers to its clients.

“I intend to strengthen MIPAC’s relationships with key clients  and broaden our client base by introducing the benefits of innovative, cost-effective, time-sensitive solutions to enhance clients’ production quality, quantity and bottom line,” Darren says.

“MIPAC is valued in Australia and abroad. I look forward to letting more people know about what our business can do to improve theirs.”

MIPAC managing director Eddie De Rivera is delighted to have Darren on board to help steer MIPAC’s business development efforts.

“He comes to us with a wealth of relevant experience,” Eddie says. “This, combined with his enthusiastic approach to his job, will see MIPAC reach new clients and forge even stronger ties with our current clients.”
