A year of achievements

MIPAC managing director Eddie De Rivera
20-Dec-2011

Busy. Very busy is how best to describe MIPAC in 2011. And busy is how we like it.

This year has seen our engineers make things better and easier for our clients in Australia and in numerous countries across the globe.

Some of our notable achievements include:

• completion of the Kazzinc Copper Smelter and significant progress at the Kazzinc Pb ISASMELT with start-up planned for mid 2012

• successful commissioning of our first Tankhouse CellView® cell voltage condition monitoring system at the Kazzinc Copper Refinery

• a control system upgrade at Ernest Henry mine, delivered with no lost production time and on schedule

• numerous projects at the Xstrata Mount Isa and George Fisher sites

• and we’ve also been active on the IsaMill™ front in Canada, South Africa, Peru, and across Australia.

In addition to project work, we’ve developed a new Rockwell Automation ControlLogix and Wonderware Archestra framework which can save up to 300 engineering hours and tens of thousands of dollars on the average automation project for our clients.

And we’ve continued our commitment to training clients in how best to use MIPAC-designed systems. This year we were pleased to host a team from Chinese engineering firm Yunnan Chihong Zn & Ge Co who will launch the Huize lead smelter in Yunnan province in mid 2012.

MIPAC's business development team has also been actively engaging with our clients. We’ve been making the most of valuable conferences and symposiums and have enjoyed catching up with familiar faces and meeting new ones.

Our team has grown considerably to meet the demands of increased project and service work. We have invested considerable resources in identifying and recruiting highly skilled and sought-after engineers. We have also added to our pool of efficient administrators who make our business function seamlessly.

Knowing that our people are our best asset, we have continued to invest in our staff, helping them develop their expertise through training and further education.

Our talented employees have increased our value to clients and this has led numerous suppliers to approach us with a view to forging official partnerships; and many clients have requested an expansion of our services.

During this year of growth and consolidation, we are very proud to have made a significant contribution to our clients’ productivity, production quality and bottom line. Our success means success for you.

On behalf of everyone at MIPAC, I wish you and yours a happy Christmas and hope that 2012 brings much prosperity for all.

Cheers

Eddie
