1-Mar-2012 |  Xstrata Zinc operates George Fisher Mine, an underground zinc/lead mine located about 20 kilometres north of Mount Isa in north-west Queensland. MIPAC is helping to introduce a new materials handling system at the north end of the mine with a view to expanding the current operation to 4.5 Mtpa.

01-Oct-2007 |  The new SAG mill at Xstrata’s Zinc/Lead Concentrator had not been performing to expectation. The mill was operating below design power (2100kW), and at lower rock loads – leading to reduced throughput and a shorter liner service life.

01-Jun-2007 |  The Century Zinc SAG mill has been the recipient of two major advanced control projects since its commissioning in 1999. Over time both systems had failed to meet the needs of the mill and operating staff lost confidence, preferring to operate the mill semi-automatically.

01-Feb-2007 |  Kicking off in 2005, SPCC engaged MIPAC as part of a major modernisation of their Copper Smelter in Ilo, Southern Peru. This upgrade was driven primarily by the need to reduce emissions and comply with the Peruvian Government’s emission laws. The project involved the replacement of the old reverb furnace with an ISASMELT™ smelter and two Rotary Holding Furnaces from Xstrata Technology in Australia.
